Meaning of the Universe

By, Mark McCarthy

I was asked, “What is the Meaning of the Universe?”
Inasmuch as purpose may provide
some meaning for existence,
the Universe manifests Creation,
seemingly to give without end
until dissipated and bored,
all being spirals into swirling
vortices of massive singularities,
only to collapse all dimension
into a form unimaginably small;
whereupon another big bang
pops the next pearl onto a string
that hangs about the neck
of some distracted debutante
who casually twirls them around
impossibly bejeweled fingers
as absently her fractal dreams light
magnitudes of ever greater order.
